CodeCraft — free QR code and barcode tools

Last updated: 18 September 2026

This page sets out the limits of what CodeCraft claims, so that you can use the tools with a clear understanding of where responsibility sits.

General information only

The guides, explanations and comparison tables on this site are provided for general information. They reflect standard industry practice and the relevant public specifications at the time of writing, but standards evolve and individual scanning hardware behaves in its own way. Nothing here constitutes professional, legal, regulatory or commercial advice.

No guarantee of scan performance

A generated code is an image. Whether it scans in the real world depends on factors outside this site's control, including printing method and resolution, ink coverage and bleed, paper or substrate, surface curvature, laminate and glare, ambient lighting, camera quality, scanner age and calibration, and the final printed size.

Test before you print at volume. Produce one copy at the exact final size, on the actual material, and scan it with at least two different devices. This takes a couple of minutes and is the only reliable way to know a code will work. No liability is accepted for materials produced without such a test.

Retail barcode numbering

This site renders barcodes from numbers you provide. It does not allocate, register or verify ownership of retail product numbers. EAN, UPC and GTIN numbers for products sold through retail channels must be obtained from GS1 or an authorised reseller. Using a number you are not entitled to may cause your products to be rejected and may expose you to legal liability. Confirming your entitlement to a number is entirely your responsibility.

Privacy claims

We state that code generation and scanning happen entirely within your browser, and this is accurate for the tools themselves. It does not mean the site as a whole makes no network requests: pages, stylesheets and open-source libraries are loaded over the internet, and advertising and analytics services operate as described in the privacy policy. The specific claim is narrow and precise — the content you type into a tool is not transmitted.

Security of what you encode

A QR code is not encryption. Anything encoded into a code — including a Wi-Fi password or personal contact details — can be read by anyone who can see the code. Treat a printed code as public information and place it accordingly.

Scanned content

The scanner decodes and displays whatever a code contains. Displaying a link is not an endorsement of it, and the site cannot assess whether a destination is safe. The scanner deliberately shows you the full decoded contents before anything is opened so that you can make that judgement. Acting on scanned content is at your own risk.

Third-party content and advertising

Advertisements are supplied by third-party networks and are not reviewed or endorsed by us. External links are provided for convenience and their content is beyond our control. We accept no responsibility for the products, services, accuracy or practices of any third party.

Availability

The site is provided free of charge and may be unavailable, interrupted or changed at any time without notice. Do not build a business-critical process around continuous availability of this site; download the codes you need and keep your own copies.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss or damage — including lost profits, wasted print runs, rejected stock or business interruption — arising from use of this site or reliance on its content. Your use of the site is at your own risk. Full terms are set out in the terms and conditions.
